Install Notes for 0.7.8

Jan 7, 2015 at 8:12 AM
Installing this update has caused a catastrophic failure in HERB.IQ and program crashes on open.

Tried uninstall and reinstall using Administrator settings. Did not work, created "Unhandled exception Access to the path "C:\Program Files (x86)\HERB.IQ\" is denied.

Details Follow:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging

For example:

< jitDebugging="true" />

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I created a workaround. I made another installation in the root directory, upgraded it, then copied the old Herb.IQ.420 file in. All plants present and accounted for, and 0.7.8 is working correctly.

Strange, glad you were able to get it working but I don't think everyone would be able to troubleshoot through it like you did. What OS are you running and where did you run the install from (IE download, temp, desktop)? I want to fix this release really quick so nobody else runs into this issue. Coincidentally this was probably going to be the last release using that custom installer. I was looking into moving over to for the new releases. I'm also looking into the missing templates, should be able to get that fixed right away.

Thanks for the feedback!

Sorry about that. Should have posted all this in the original post.

Using Win7 Ultimate- Fully updated via Windows Update.
Downloaded via Firefox directly to HERB.IQ install folder.
Disabled Norton and Spybot S&D for the install, and used {right click} "Run as Administrator" on the updater patch.

After upgrade failure
Full uninstall and delete of files in path.
Restarted between uninstall and reinstall.
Starting 0.7.0 started a continuing loop of "Convert" that never ended in launching the program.
Weirdly, installing to the root directory, and updating from the original (restored) directory did the trick, but I had to manually create a HERB.IQ dir in the root to make it work. Installer did NOT create from within (three tries).

With the exception of the "Convert" loop, the main install problem is likely in the installer, which will be moot when
